Who operates this site
Sandustry Wiki at sandustrywiki.net is an independent, unofficial game guide. The operator responsible for this site's handling of personal information is YC, based in China. For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@medievaldynastydb.com. This is the operator's shared privacy contact.
Browsing and hosting
You can read our guides without registering an account. The site does not provide account registration, visitor comments, payment forms, or a server-side search form.
Cloudflare provides hosting and delivery services. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical information that may include your IP address, browser and request information, traffic routing information and system configuration. This supports delivery, reliability and protection of the site. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy, particularly its information about End Users. This hosting and security activity is separate from optional Google Analytics.
We do not enable the separate Cloudflare Web Analytics browser beacon on this site.
Google Analytics use
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which guides people read, how visitors reach the site and how the site is used, so we can improve its content and navigation.
Google Analytics can receive page addresses and titles, referral information, visit and interaction events, browser and device characteristics, and approximate location. Requests to Google also involve your IP address. Cookie-based measurement can associate visits with a browser identifier; this should not be understood as anonymous browsing.
After you accept analytics, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, commonly named _ga and a name beginning with _ga_, to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. Our website configures those cookies with a two-year expiry that can refresh relative to your most recent visit while analytics is permitted. Browser restrictions may shorten how long cookies survive, and you can delete them through your browser. This cookie expiry is separate from your 180-day analytics choice and Google's retention of collected data.
Our website's Google tag configuration disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals, and keeps Google advertising consent denied. Accepting analytics here does not grant consent for advertising. Read Google's explanation of how it uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Your analytics choice
The same choice applies to every visitor, wherever they are. Google Analytics stays blocked until you choose to allow analytics. Declining or leaving the choice unanswered sends no Google Analytics requests, including requests without cookies. The guides remain available regardless of your choice. If you agree, analytics cookies and measurement begin.
When your browser allows local storage, we remember your acceptance or refusal there for 180 days from your explicit choice. This preference is stored on your device rather than sent to Google before consent. Ordinary visits do not extend that period. After it expires, or if you clear the site's stored data, analytics requires a new choice. Invalid saved choices are treated as no consent.
Analytics does not start if the browser cannot save acceptance. If a refusal cannot be saved in local storage, we try to keep it in this tab's session storage instead. That temporary refusal applies only to this tab's session, not other tabs or later sessions. If neither storage is available, analytics remains off on the current page. The control explains these limits and asks you to clear this site's data before revisiting, because an earlier saved acceptance may remain.
You can change your choice through Privacy settings in the page footer. Withdrawing stops future analytics measurement and removes this site's accessible Google Analytics cookies. After your refusal is saved, the page reloads if analytics has already loaded, to stop its running code. Withdrawal cannot recall requests already sent or in transit and does not automatically erase data previously collected by Google; use the privacy contact above for requests concerning your information.
Advertising and external links
This version of the site does not load third-party advertising. If we introduce advertising, we will review the providers, required consent controls and disclosures before enabling it. The analytics choice described here covers Google Analytics only.
Source links, including links to Steam or YouTube, lead to independently operated websites with their own privacy practices. Following a source link is not consent to analytics on Sandustry Wiki.
Retention, international processing and your rights
Our Google Analytics property retains event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. Reset on new activity is enabled, so a user's new activity can extend the retention period of their user identifier. Expired data is deleted through Google's monthly deletion process. These settings are separate from cookie expiry and the lifetime of your consent preference, and do not determine how long Google's standard aggregated reports are available. See Google's data retention explanation.
We retain privacy contact requests and related correspondence for 2 months, then delete them. This contact-request retention period does not set Google's Analytics retention or Cloudflare's operational retention.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for optional analytics and its cookies. We rely on our legitimate interests in providing a reliable website and protecting it against misuse for hosting and security processing.
Google and Cloudflare operate internationally, so processing may take place outside your country, including in the United States. Their privacy and data-processing information explains the safeguards they use for applicable transfers. Contact us with questions about how this affects your information.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive your personal information, restrict or object to processing, and complain to a data protection authority. Use the privacy contact above to make a request. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. The effective date identifies this version of the policy.
